Take me out to the ballgame – and the Texas Conference for Women!
Another incredible week at ET is coming to a close. It kicked off with a bang on Tuesday night at a VIP reception for the Texas Conference for Women at Minute Maid Park (home of the Houston Astros), hosted by First Lady Anita Perry. The First Lady turned out in Elaine Turner Julia flats – and even waved them in the air as she gave a shout out to Elaine!
The fun continued the next day at the 2010 Texas Conference for Women. First Lady Anita Perry organizes the conference each year and brought an incredible line up of speakers including Leanne Tuohy (author of The Blind Side) and Tory Johnson (career guru), who led the crowd in chanting “Texas Women Rock!”
Elaine was honored to speak at the convention on a panel called ‘The Resilient Leader’, which focused on 3 women’s journey of self-realization and growth despite personal obstacles and set backs. Gigi Bryant (founder of GMSA Management Services) and Leslie Nelson (Vice President of Finance and CFO of the Texas Division of Safeway, Inc) joined Elaine to recount their experiences and words of advice to a packed room of women.
At the keynote luncheon, Elaine was joined by a group of her close friends and fashionistas including Lauren Freeman of Channel 2 News, fashion designer Chloe Dao and CultureMap writer Heather Staible. In addition, her mother, Marlaine White, godmother Tafi Cole and dear friend Donna Terrizzi were present to show their support and join in the festivities.
It was a celebratory day for the women of Texas who are moving up, paying it forward, and helping each other reach for the sky! Three cheers for First Lady Perry!
